I love makeup...let me reiterate that...I LOVE makeup but sometimes it is such a hassle to take off!! It seems like I have tried everything under the sun. For a long time (back in my high school days..that is like back...back..back in the day) I just used the Mary Kay makeup remover which worked fine. I started noticing that it would leave an oily residue on my face...umm no thank you. In typical Ari fashion, I set off to find the best makeup remover, it's been about ten years, and I am still at it 😁. For the past few months, I have been using the wipes and makeup removers pictured above.
I like keeping makeup remover wipes in my nightstand drawer. They save me on nights that I just can't take an extra ten steps to the bathroom to take my makeup off. For those nights, I use a quick wipe and I am done. I also really love them for traveling. My skin gets very dry on flights, especially on long flights, so I like to use one as a refresher right before I get off the plane or when I wake up from a nap. I usually don't travel with makeup on because I just want to be comfortable and using a wipe for a quick refresh is perfect. To freshen up, any wipe is fine. For actually taking makeup off and not having any left on your face in the morning, the struggle is real. A lot of wipes (especially the natural ones) burn my eyes.
Whether you are a wipe or no wipe kind of gal, check out my favorite makeup removers listed below.
I am totally in to anything natural and I was super excited when I finally found a natural wipe that didn't burn my eyes. This is my all time favorite wipe. I discovered it on one of my Target runs. I was just looking for a new makeup remover wipe and I came across this brand - Botanics The Power of Plants. As it turns out, it is known for its natural approach to not only skin care but also makeup.
As mentioned previously, I am looking for a product that is effective and does not leave a oily residue - enter micellar cleansing water. In case you haven't heard of micellar water, it functions like a magnet that removes dirt, oil, and makeup (YES - even water proof makeup). I don't have to wash my face after using this makeup remover if I don't want to. It leaves your skin feeling clean and refreshed. There are many micellar makeup removers out there (i.e. in liquid or wipe form) so you have some choices. I have only tried the Garner SkinActive and Simple but I like the Garnier micellar water the best. I feel like it did a better job of removing my makeup.
If I am looking for a refresher while I am traveling or out and about on a hot Houston day, I like to use the Burt's Bees Cumber and & Sage cleansing towelettes. Burt's Bees is a earth friendly, natural line of personal care products. It is 99.1% natural. The cucumber really helps soothe redness while also providing cooling and moisture. It is a nice pick me up during the summer or any time of year. Lately I have been trying out more of Burt's Bees products and I must say I am really impressed.
