Summer Beauty

Over the past few months I have been keeping my beauty routine simple. I think this has stemmed from my love for Nudestix. Also, if you are from Houston or you have been to Houston you know it is HOT. The last thing I want to do is spend a lot of time on my makeup.

This summer, I have been gravitating towards very simple lids, dewy skin and either a bold lip  or a peachy glossy nude. I think I was late to the peach party but I made it and I am loving it.

Current favs:

  1. Hydration -  I always make sure to stick with my moisturizer and a face spray which is my new love (honestly, how did I ever live without a face spray!?) If you haven't tried one, you totally should. This summer I have been using the Vitamin Wakeup Mist by Pixi Beauty. You can find this brand at Target. It claims to refresh and awake the skin which I believe to be true. No matter the season, I focus on having plenty of water which also helps hydrate my skin. For me, good skin is everything. It is what helps you look alive, healthy and fresh.
  2. Concealer - A few months ago I decide to give a drugstore concealer a try. I picked up Maybelline's Dream Brightening Creamy Concealer. I am in the shade light. I am kind of surprised that I like it. It doesn't crease or settle in  fine lines. It looks natural and it lasts all day. Using a concealer is my secret to making me look more awake and fresh - that coupled with my eye cream of course 🤗.
  3. Brows - Gone are the days that I go thread my eyebrows every two weeks because I am worried they look bushy. I embrace bushy brows!! I can go months without doing my brows which I think helps give me a natural look. There is just something about thick tamed/untamed brows. Does that make sense? Untamed because it's not like you are keeping up with them but tamed because you are still using a brow product to make them look their best. I have been using ColourPop's Black N' Brown Brow Pencil for the past few months.  It is very easy to use and I literally do my brows in the morning in a matter of seconds. I focus on filling in a few gaps to make it look like my brows are thicker than they really are.
  4. Lips -  This summer I have been loving the Nyx Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Daydream it is a beautiful peachy shade. I pair the Essence XXXL Shine Lipgloss (which looks beat up in the picture above because it rolls around in my purse) in Pretty in Hibiscus  over it so that it isn't so matte. This helps keep my look fresh. I also have been loving Mary Kay's At Play liquid lipstick in Neon Nectarine. There is just something about a hot tamale red shade for summer that I love! Sometimes I like to go with a fun bold lip when I am keeping the rest of my look simple. I got this shade as a gift from one of my relatives in Mexico. It might be a Mexico only product because I couldn't find a link to it. If you can get your hands on it you should! It is an awesome lip product. I am very impressed with the formula. It is comfortable and long lasting.

Hope you are enjoying the last few weeks of summer!

Nudestix

Ever since I discovered Nudestix  last holiday season I have been obsessed! Their Magnetic eye color  has literally changed my weekly morning routine. They are so easy to use, they blend out nicely with your fingers and they last all day without budging. I can create a look in under 10 minutes that looks beautiful and natural.

I also purchased a lip set which I talked about in a previous post earlier in the year. It came with three shades in various formulas. My favorite is still Pulse which comes in their gel formula. The premise of the brand is you but better. I love how easy their products are to work with and the fact that I can take them on the go. You can learn more about the brand here

Below are my favorite shades and a mini guide for creating my go to look:

  • Putty for all over the lid - works as a primer
  • Twilight for the center of my lid - to add a pop and a little sparkle
  • Lilith for my inner corner highlight - to  brighten and open the eyes
  • Pulse for my cheek and lips

By the way, all stix mentioned below fit in one of the black tins that comes with your purchase.  I can put them all in one tin and throw it in my bag for later. It works perfectly for going from work to after hour events.

Disregard my one painted nail. I was testing a nail polish color earlier :).

Shout out to Nudestix for sending me two of their new Magnetic Matte Lip Colors. I received Rose which is a pinky nude and Blossom which is a true nude on my skin. My favorite of the two is Rose. It is perfect for every day. Blossom is a great shade to pair with a dark smokey eye.

These stix glide on your lips like butter and last all day long. Think liquid lip but in a crayon form. The color is very pigmented which is nice but I did find them to be a bit drying. Make sure to apply a lip balm prior to applying them on the lips. I really love Blossom but for some reason it swatches different on my arm when compared to what it looks like on my lips.

What makeup brands do you love?

Blossom which was my second swatch. I didn't reapply the balm - explains why my lips  looks so dry.
